BKSH has a broad and diverse health care practice led by our in-house health care experts who have worked in several offices that develop health care policy including: the Department of Health and Human Services, Leadership and Committee offices of the U.S. House of Representatives and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the largest health care and public sector union in the nation.

The practice reflects a myriad of issues before Congress and the administration. Our health care clients have included local and state governments, trade associations, nonprofits, hospital systems and various health care industry corporations. Over the years, our health care and human services practices have had scores of successes on behalf our clients. Such successes include:

• Achieved a very significant increase in Medicare reimbursement for an ambulance client
• Gained funding for a tele-health portability demonstration project
• Protected current Medicare revenue stream for academic medical centers
• Won an increase in Medicare reimbursement for dialysis providers
• Obtained federal funding for children’s hospitals construction and acquisition of state-of-the-art technology
• Secured site visits with two senior Senators to a client facility
