History of BKSH & Associates Worldwide

Our History

On May 1, 1996, two of Washington's most effective advocacy firms merged to form one of Washington's premier public affairs organizations: BKSH & Associates Worldwide (BKSH). Collectively, BKSH offers decades of experience in government relations with a reputation for excellence in client service.

BKSH’s father firms, Gold & Liebengood, and Black, Manafort, Stone & Kelly, were founded in 1984 and 1982 respectively. These firms were among the few original bipartisan and bicameral lobbying firms.

Black, Manafort, Stone & Kelly was known for its strategic counseling and ability to carry out public affairs strategies with the same precision as a national political campaign. Gold & Liebengood, a firm of experienced and accomplished Capitol Hill lobbyists, initiated the team approach that BKSH employs today.

With a history of pioneering in lobbying and campaign strategy, BKSH has built a government affairs office that is valued for its diverse and innovative counsel.
