Lisa Cotter Colangelo
Ms. Colangelo has more than seventeen years of experience in public relations and public affairs. She brings to the company a strong background in the management of international foreign policy and trade issues and in the development of public affairs, public relations and media/communications strategies for clients.
Ms. Colangelo is a Senior Consultant to the firm, focusing primarily on supporting the firms' international practice. Her client experience includes work in government relations, democratization and free market reform, legislative analysis, trade issues, grassroots mobilization and coalition building, media and communications and analytical writing. Ms. Colangelo has specific experience in representing opposition political parties and leaders in Washington, D.C. and in preparing countries for conducting their first democratic elections. Her international experience has included extensive work in Africa, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and the Newly Independent States.
In addition, over the last several years, Ms. Colangelo has successfully represented the interests of a variety of domestic and international clients in the trade arena in Washington, D.C. In that capacity, she has helped create and manage several broad-based business coalitions for the purpose of opposing unfair charges of dumping in the U.S. marketplace.
Ms. Colangelo previously served as Program Manager at Commonwealth Corporation, where she developed and coordinated public affairs campaigns and media outreach strategies for a variety of domestic and international clients in the foreign policy and defense arenas.
Ms. Colangelo holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a master’s degree in international transactions (political science and business) from George Mason University. She was a member of the Human Rights and Foreign Policy Steering Group for the 1996 Dole Presidential Campaign and served as a member of the Corporate Council on Africa’s National Task Force on AIDS. She is conversant in Spanish.
