Public/Private Partnerships
As the United States’ need for infrastructure improvements surpasses federal, state and local funding availability, public and private entities are beginning to hone in on innovative ways to move forward with large-scale, long-term projects without relying exclusively on government aid. Public-private partnerships (P3) are proven solutions, with the public and private sectors working together to solve infrastructure problems while increasing operational efficiencies, strengthening economic development, creating jobs and improving quality of life. While P3 have thrived globally for decades, this international trend has only recently taken hold in the United States.
BKSH was one of the leading firms in Washington, D.C. to play a role in promoting a P3 solution, and was a major player in a recent national success story. One of our clients pushed for and successfully passed state legislation to advance an initiative to lease a state toll road to a private concessionaire and build a major highway between two large cities. This lease resulted in the largest P3 deal to date in the United States. BKSH continues to work closely with other entities and companies interested in public-private partnerships.
